We took the ferry from Bellingham to Juneau - that's the Alaska Marine Highway - and it was a pleasant sailing

|
We're
nderway and soon surrounded by wilderness and out of sight of any human
activity - it's thrilling.![]() |
![]() We chose to get a cabin on the outside for the view and some fresh air |
|
The sailing was
in protected water, so it was calm. Sometimes we went through narrow passages,
close to the islands and forests |
![]() On rare occasion, we passed small villages or fishing communities, but we didn't stop at them. We stopped at some towns on the way north. |
![]() We got close enough to see the tufted puffins and other birds |

and we got a good look at a Stellar
Sealion rookery - lots of noise and commotion and we could even smell them.
And seagulls and grizzly bears
