Good River B&B - packages to visit Glacier Bay

PACKAGE A - 3 days and 2 nights. A bit of everything - glaciers, whales and small plane flights

Day 1
A morning flight on a small plane gives you a spectacular flight over Admiralty Island, Tongass National Forest, Lynn Canal and Icy Strait on your way to Gustavus. The taxi will bring you to the Good River Bed and Breakfast. In the afternoon, you'll bike to the Gustavus dock (about 1.5 miles) and go on a cruise to Point Adolphus to watch the humpback whales. They spend the summer feeding in the nutrient rich waters of southeast Alaska, to prepare for their migrate to Hawaii for the winter. After leaving Alaskan waters, they don't eat, so they spend most of the time here feeding up for the rest of the year - which translates into lots of activity to see.

Day 2
The taxi will transport you to Bartlett Cove where you will board the catamaran for the full day boat ride in Glacier Bay. Cruise past nesting birds, sealion rookery, wildlife, forest, tidewater glaciers and a profusion of wildlife; about 65 miles to the head of the west arm of the bay. Lunch is included on this cruise. You'll return to Bartlett Cove in the late afternoon. This is your opportunity to enjoy Glacier Bay National Park headquarters. There are many activities; exhibits, nature walks, library of relevant books and maps, gift shop, and movie. You can stay at Bartlett Cove for dinner (not included in the package) and enjoy some of the evening activities. There is a different slide show nightly, given by the Park Service Naturalists.

Day 3
You have a day to explore the town of Gustavus - visit the galleries, go birdwatching, berrypicking, bicycle out to the Sandhill Crane Refuge, antique plane, fishing, hike, walk the beach or follow a whim. Your flight back to Juneau will be at a time of your choosing. TOP

PACKAGE B - 3 days and 2 nights. A bit of everything - glaciers, whales, small plane flights and this package includes a rental car for your entire stay.

Day 1
Early in the day, fly to Gustavus on one of the many local air taxis. You'll fly over Admiralty Island, Tongass National Forest, Lynn Canal and Icy Strait. In the afternoon, you'll bike to the Gustavus dock (about 1.5 miles) to catch the 1:30pm cruise to Point Adolphus to watch the humpback whales. They spend the summer feeding in the nutrient rich waters of southeast Alaska, then migrate to Hawaii for the winter. After leaving Alaskan waters, they don't eat, so they spend most of the time here feeding up for the rest of the year.

Day 2
Board the catamaran for the full day boat ride in Glacier Bay. Cruise past nesting birds, sealion rookery, wildlife, forest, tidewater glaciers and a profusion of wildlife; about 65 miles to the head of the west arm of the bay. Lunch is included on this cruise. You'll return to Bartlett Cove in the late afternoon and can stay at Glacier Bay National Park headquarters. Enjoy nature walks, exhibits, library of relevant books and maps, gift shop, and movie. You can stay at Bartlett Cove for dinner (not included in the package) and enjoy some of the evening activities. There is a different slide show nightly, given by the Park Service Naturalists.

Day 3
A relaxed morning - you can hike down the Good River to Icy Strait or join the morning guided nature walk at Bartlett Cove, go beach combing, explore the frontier town of Gustavus, borrow a pole and see if you can find a fish. We'll arrange the return flight to Juneau on a small plane for any time you desire. TOP

PACKAGE C - 3 days and 2 nights (based on double occupancy). This package is for those who want to do as much as possible in 3 days - a great value.

Day 1

The taxi will be waiting to bring you to the Good River Bed and Breakfast. In the afternoon, you'll bike to the Gustavus dock (about 1.5 miles) and go on a cruise to Point Adolphus to watch the humpback whales. They spend the summer bulking up for the migration to Hawaii for the winter. There's always lots of activity to see.

Day 2
The taxi will transport you to Bartlett Cove where you will board the catamaran for the full day boat ride in Glacier Bay. Cruise past nesting birds, sealion rookery, wildlife, forest, tidewater glaciers and a profusion of wildlife; about 65 miles to the head of the west arm of the bay. Lunch is included on this cruise. You'll return to Bartlett Cove in the late afternoon. This is your opportunity to enjoy Glacier Bay National Park headquarters. Day 3
You will have a day on the water in a kayak with an experienced local guide. It's a completely different view than you get from the cruise into Glacier Bay. You are among the active seabirds, and a passing seal might check you out from a distance. The guide will take you to some favorite spots and tell you about the history and ecology of the area. In mid-day, you'll land on a pristine beach that is only accessible by kayak, be served a gourmet lunch, and walk in the rainforest. Sea kayaking is a gentle activity - no experience necessary, and all the equipment you need for a fabulous day will be supplied. Late in the day, you'll fly back to Juneau on a small plane.TOP

It can be early enough in the day to join one of several naturalist activities in Glacier Bay National Park - hikes, presentations, exhibits, books and maps; or go on your own. The beaches are fascinating places to go tidepooling, there are well maintained trails in the rainforest, or enjoy the lodge's gift shop, restaurant, active dock and more.

Day 2
Early morning - you'll taxi to Bartlett Cove where you'll board the catamaran for the full day boat ride in Glacier Bay. Cruise past nesting birds, sealion rookery, wildlife, forest, tidewater glaciers and a profusion of wildlife; it's about 65 miles to the head of the west arm of the bay. Lunch is included on this cruise. You'll return to Bartlett Cove in the late afternoon. This is your opportunity to enjoy Glacier Bay National Park headquarters; exhibits, library of books about the bay and maps, gift shop, movie, eat dinner in their restaurant if you'd like and watch the slide show by one of the park naturalists.

DAY 3
We can arrange transportation back to Juneau by air taxi for any time of your choosing, and you can spend the day until the flight on one of our frre bikes exploring the town, visiting galleries, meeting neighbors and friends, and generally enjoying the neighborhood.. TOP

PACKAGE F - 4 days 3 nights. This package is paced to give you some free time amid a range of activities to entertain you.

Day 1

Your rental car will be awaiting you at the airport. Check in to the Good River Bed and Breakfast The time of the flight can be arranged for a time of convenience for you. It can be early enough in the day to join one of several naturalist activities in Glacier Bay National Park - hikes, presentations, exhibits, books and maps; or go on your own. The beaches are fascinating places to go tidepooling, there are well maintained trails in the rainforest, or enjoy the lodge's gift shop, restaurant, active dock and more.

Day 2
You will have a day on the water in a rented kayak. Sea kayaking is a gentle activity - no experience necessary. Enjoy life among the active sealife - birds diving for food, seals cavorting, and other life on the water. You decide how far you want to go, and what you want to do. A full orientation will prepare you for the day.

Day 3
Board the boat for the full day boat ride in Glacier Bay. Cruise past nesting birds, sealion rookery, wildlife, forest, tidewater glaciers and a profusion of wildlife; about 65 miles to the head of the west arm of the bay. Lunch is included on this cruise. You'll return to Bartlett Cove in the late afternoon. This is your opportunity to enjoy Glacier Bay National Park headquarters. There are many activities; exhibits, library of relevant books and maps, gift shop, and movie. Day 4
A day on your own to hike the trails, bike around the town and explore, or follow your whim. You'll fly back to Juneau on a small Air Taxi at any time of your choosing. TOP

Because the price of fuel is such a big percentage of the cost of transportation, most of the activities we include in our packages tell us that there might be a 'fuel surcharge' added to the quoted price they have given us. Because of that, the package prices are not firm until booked.
